SELF GUIDED CYCLING HOLIDAYS 2015

In conjuction with Robin Hogg of Galloway Cycling Holidays we are now offering 2 or 3 day self guided cycle tours of Galloway:

Package includes :

Pre tour briefing: with route explained by map including places of interest, detour options and any questions. Cycle fit for those who need to hire cycles. Hybrid cycles supplied – £15 per day.

Support service – cyclists will be given a card with Robin’s mobile phone number, should they have any problems. An extra charge would apply for client’s own bike, if GCH bikes, free of charge.

Pickups in bad weather can be arranged through Robin at an extra charge – this would reassure those cyclists who fear the Scottish weather!

Rates based on 2 persons, single rates also available by request.

Packed lunches can be provided by the hotel at an extra charge.

LEISURE CYCLING SOCIAL WEEKEND

Friday & Saturday 11/12th September 2015

Both days will include a guided bike ride, led by Robin Hogg of Galloway Cycling Holidays.

Friday 11th September –

Arrive anytime from 2pm and enjoy a relaxing afternoon in Kirkcudbright.

Approx. 6pm : bike fit (for those hiring bikes), meet at 7pm for introductions, canapés & drink, go to meeting room for briefing with maps and look at the planned routes.

Dinner at 8pm on a shared table.

Saturday 12th September– Gatehouse Circuit – 30 miles

Depart 9.30am

Kirkcudbright – Twynholm – Old Military Road to Gatehouse – Gatehouse Circuit including Cardoness Castle (entrance fees not included) with Roon the Water option. Optional lunch at Gatehouse.

Return route by Sandgreen, Cream o’ Galloway option, Carrick, and return by the No. 7 route – 30 miles in total.

Meet pre dinner 7.30pm for 8pm

Sunday 13th September – Castle Douglas Circuit – (Possibly lesser distance)

Kbt – Tongland – Tarff – via Barcaple or Ringford to Laurieston, red kite feeding or viewing on the route, round by Ken Dee Marshes, Balmaghie kirk, Castle Douglas. Back to Kirkcudbright by Threave Castle / Threave Garden, Rhonehouse to No. 7 route to Kirkcudbright.

Tours should all finish around 4/5pm or before.

Support / Problems – Any cyclists with mechanical issues or agreed deviations to the normal route due to poor weather can be assisted by Galloway Cycling Holidays with minibus and bike rack.

Weekend Cost

£199 per person sharing, includes welcome drink & canapés both nights, dinner, bed & breakfast plus guided cycle Saturday & Sunday.

Extra night: Sunday 13th September £39 per person per night bed & breakfast.

Galloway Cycling Holidays is able to supply hybrid bikes – cost £15 per day. Cyclists can also bring their own bikes, we suggest hybrid bikes and if you have road bikes please ensure the tyres are suitable for some stony tracks.
