About Us

Scotland the Best 'highly recommended' digital badge

A unique blend of traditional hospitality, fine food, Scottish history and local art.

Chris and Sue Walker have previously owned The Creebridge House Hotel in Newton Stewart and The Masonic Arms in Gatehouse. They joined forces with Douglas McDavid, who used to manage the Cally Palace Hotel, to jointly purchase the Selkirk Arms Hotel in April 2007. Now in their 10th year of trading the trio have refurbished the hotel extensively to give a warm, contemporary and authentic feel to each individual bedroom and throughout the public areas. They have changed the style of dining to a more modern gastro pub.

What makes us special

True Scottish History

It’s a gentle pace and peaceful atmosphere which perhaps moved Scotland’s national poet Robert Burns to write the famous Selkirk Grace at this very hotel in 1794.
