4×4 Treks in Galloway

4x4

We are delighted to introduce to you a brand new business to the area – 4 X 4 Treks Galloway.

Do you own a 4×4 and fancy taking it on a real adventure off road on some stunning scenic treks… look no further.

The business is the brain child of Norman and Nick Robertson, not directly related, but similarly motivated. Both have a keen interest in 4×4 vehicles going back many years. Norman, an ex-volunteer with the Galloway Mountain Rescue Team, has used 4x4s professionally and for recreation, winning his class in early challenge events in a lightly modified Land Rover Lightweight.

A native of Dumfries and Galloway, Norman is a font of knowledge on the area, coming as he does from generations of farming and country dwellers.

Nick, on the other hand, is a relative newcomer to Dumfries and Galloway (you only become a ‘local’ when you have a history of several generations in the area!). His experience with 4×4′s started in the late 1970′s whilst working at the Hill Farming Research Organisation where the main transport was MOD-spec Land Rovers.

Since then, many 4x4s have been through Nick’s hands and have been used to visit and explore places as diverse as New Zealand, Iceland, North Africa and every country in Europe and Scandinavia.

Full details of all their tours and packages are on the web site – but if you don’t want to camp and fancy the luxury of a hot bath, a dram by an open fire at night, fresh linen sheets and some of the best food in the area then we’d love you to come and stay at The Selkirk.
